I just uploaded a stone painting of local artist Sofia Jüngling which, in retrospect, reminds me to this pattern. Before I had no idea that this is called Polka Dot, and about the etymology which can be traced to English 'polka' which in turn is from German, but further down the road from french and Polish ....
